Commonly Asked ACW Questions
1. Why doesn’t ACW accept my insurance
Insurance companies require a certain level of documentation to approve claims, including your diagnosis code(s) and your treatment plans. Tameran prefers to avoid disclosing your sensitive information to a third party. In addition, Tameran provides a more personalized experience for you by not being constrained by the volume of clients typically required by insurance-based practices. This means more flexibility and shorter wait times for appointments.
2. What types of therapy does ACW use?
Tameran uses an integrative approach to therapy, also known as multimodal therapy (MMT) or eclectic therapy. Common modalities include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), narrative therapy, interpersonal therapy (IPT), as well as strength-based, client-centered, and trauma-focused approaches.
3. How long is a typical session and how long will I need therapy?
The duration of a typical initial diagnostic assessment is 75 minutes, and ongoing therapy sessions are an hour (50 minutes). Tameran often sees clients every two weeks to allow time for the completion of homework assignments between sessions. However, the frequency and duration of therapy are influenced by factors such as your schedule, your unique needs, and your progress toward your treatment goal(s).
4. I have a pretty demanding schedule. Does ACW offer telehealth or virtual sessions?
Yes! In fact, ACW offers services exclusively through Simple Practice, a secure, HIPAA-approved telehealth platform. You and Tameran can assess if this method of service delivery is right for you during a complimentary 15-minute consultation.
5. Do you prescribe medications?
No. Tameran has undergone extensive training in assessing, diagnosing, and treating mental health disorders to promote well-being. However, she is not trained to prescribe medication. She may recommend medication management services from an external provider, such as a psychiatrist, to complement your treatment.
